Volunteers

The United Seafarers' Mission is heavily dependent on it's committed team of unpaid volunteers in order to carry out it's mission in caring for the welfare of visiting seafarers from all over the world. We do not use the term 'committed' lightly, as we have some who have been regularly involved for well over 20 years.

We are always needing new folk to become involved as volunteers. Most of our folk carry out one or two shifts per week, although some do even more because they find the involvement so satisfying and enjoyable.

At present, we operate three shifts each day ...

  • 11.00am - 2:00pm
  • 2:pm - 5:30pm
  • 5:30pm - 9pm

We will be in contact with you as soon as is possible in order to answer any questions and arrange a meeting at your convenience.

If you wish, we can arrange for you to visit the Mission in order that you may gain an understanding of our operation. Such a visit requires to be pre-arranged as we are located within the Port of Tauranga security cordon.

If you do not have a current Police Clearance or Ministry of Justice Criminal Conviction History, you may download the requisite form here or obtain one from a courthouse.

Whilst many of our volunteers are approved to drive our 12-seater Mercedes mini-bus, this is not a prerequisite for a valued role within the Mission.
